Würzburg Central Station

Würzburg Central Station (German: Würzburg Hauptbahnhof) is a railway station for the city of Würzburg in the German state of Bavaria. Regional and long-distance trains call at the station; it is the southern end of the Hanover-Würzburg high-speed rail line that carries InterCityExpress traffic. Connections exist to:

• Hanover-Würzburg high-speed rail line
• Main–Spessart railway to Hanau and Frankfurt
• Nuremberg–Würzburg railway to Nuremberg
• Franconia Railway to Stuttgart
• Treuchtlingen–Würzburg railway from Treuchtlingen and Augsburg
• Würzburg–Bamberg railway from Bamberg

Shortcomings

The station is due to undergo modernisation soon, as its 1950s ticket hall is increasingly looking shabby. Although an important junction in the German rail system, Würzburg has neither an elevator nor an escalator, to the dismay of travelers with heavy luggage.
